Weddings are increasingly becoming an all weekend event rather than a one day event. With families and friends travelling longer distances to attend weddings, many couples are opting to host a weekend complete with itineraries chalked full of events to give their guests the opportunity to know each other as well as be entertained. The weekends often include a welcome party, activities of interest to the couples and their guests such as hiking, a beach party, yoga, billiards, a pub event. Before the guests depart on the last day many couples are hosting a brunch. The weekend events give your guests a chance to interact with each other instead of being more like spectators to your wedding.
A big part of the weekend style weddings is a welcome party for the out of town guests complete with a self serve grab bag table. The welcome party doesn’t need to be an expensive or complicated event to host. A back yard bbq event complete with a few yard games such as croquet or corn hole is one idea for the party. Another idea might be to serve a few simple snacks while a friend or relative provides simple musical entertainment with a guitar. You can choose to top off your welcome party with a table full of guest essentials such as snacks, toiletries, pen & note pad, or other items from a dollar store, along with some small bags for your guests to fill themselves from the table. The welcome party will be a start to your wedding weekend.
